Champagne Bay, Vanuatu

We were told this area got its name because at certain tide levels, the water has little bubbles rise up like champagne bubbles.  The little crabs and animals that live in the sand cause the bubbles.  We found it to be another beautiful beach stop.  There were a lot of local vendors with souvenirs for sale.  Unfortunately, many of these were ‘made in India’ or “made in China’ and not by locals.  We swam in the (cool) water a bit, and rested in the shade and just soaked up the local beauty – before heading back onboard the ship.

They sang us a catchy tune as we arrived… “We welcome you, we welcome you, we welcome you to Champagne bay!”

Tours – several folks from the ship took tours – we decided to play it safe
