LAX to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida

Mon, Dec 4th, 2017 – Fly to Ft. Lauderdale

Gadget wanted to go along!

We got up bright and early at 4:30am and hugged all the animals goodbye. Adam’s mom graciously offered to take us to the airport (thank you Cheryl!), but called us when she arrived and told us the engine light on her car just came on! So we loaded up our stuff into her car and then drove to their house to swap cars. Then we hit the road and traffic was bad and we got a little nervous about making our plane on time. But we made it!

Typical 405 traffic

Our flight was on Jet Blue – and it was our first experience with them.  We decided to try their “Mint class seats” which we believe is their equivalant to business class. They were comfy and good configuration. We would recommend it! Service was great and food was good.

Then we arrived in Ft. Lauderdale and stumbled our way around to getting our luggage and then to the rental car place where we rented a little suv. We drove to our first hotel which was the Hilton Ft. Lauderdale Gallery One.

After we checked in, we drove our car around and wound up at Outback for dinner . It  was very good. Then we went back to the  hotel and tried to get bed early to reset our internal clocks to Florida time but neither of us slept very well because it was  such a noisy hotel.

Our “huge” balcony!!

The bed was uncomfortable, street noise was high, (which was a surprise to us several stories up) and we were still on  California time.  Not our best hotel experience, but it’s hard to know if we would have enjoyed it more if we hadn’t been jet-lagged and tired.

On to day 2!
