December 12 – Miami Florida and Sail Away
The drive from the hotel to the port took about 40 minutes and the check-in took perhaps 15 minutes and we were onboard! From there we dropped off our bags in the room and went up to the pool area to see what the pool-side buffet looked like. As tempting as that was we went in to the full buffet a little further away (La Veranda) and had a great lunch (Mostly with HUGE shrimp and cocktail sauce). It was great!

Next we explored the ship and checked out the top deck and hit a couple of golf ball around and then found where all the restaurants were and shops The had a bunch of amazing gingerbread houses that they had made (but we couldn’t eat any).

We went back to our rooms and discovered our luggage had arrived!

We unpacked and sat on our balcony to watch the sail-away. David and Cindy did the same and we figured out how to open the door between the balconies to make one big one (sshhh! Don’t tell Regent.. they said not to do it). We had a lot of fun but sail away got delayed for some reason so we didn’t leave until around 6:30. The views out of the port were amazing as the colors of all the buildings were really popping. It was also very nice weather – perhaps a little windy and colder than expected but still very nice.

We wanted to catch the 9:30 show so we went down for dinner around 7:30. We had a really amazing dinner at the Compass Rose. Adam had Mushroom Rizotto and lobster and Susan had Lobster and some steamed veggies (and of course a shrimp cocktail for both fo us). Everyone really enjoyed the dinner – the food was really good!

At the 9:30 show it was then “Welcome aboard! A taste of the things to come” show where they gave a little example of the upcoming shows that were going to be happening during the cruise and also introduced some of the staff like the cruise director and staff and some of the folks who ran the shops.
It was pretty late and we wanted to make sure we updated this blog before it got too late! That was all for today. Looking forward to a relaxing day at sea tomorrow.
Next: Days at sea – lots of relaxation!
