Vancouver, B.C. Canada

The day finally arrived for us to travel to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. David and Cindy flew from their home in Las Vegas and we flew from Los Angeles. Our morning started out with a notification from our airline that our flight had been delayed 2 hours – ugh!

Waiting to check our luggage at LAX

We finally made it to Vancouver. We had a very nice bus driver and she shared with us some of the local information as she drove us to the pier.

Once inside the pier we found we were among the last to board. We had all of our paperwork ready and our Medallion app loaded – but when we boarded the ship my medallion wasn’t working. This wasn’t a great introduction to Medallion Class for us – we had to go stand in line at Customer service. It took about an hour.

Once my medallion was fixed it was time to go to our stateroom and then try to find David and Cindy to begin our relaxing cruise.

Cool ‘Ocean-walk’ feature of the ship.

We contacted David and Cindy via text and decided to meet in the Buffet area upstairs. It was great to see them – it was the first time we’ve seen them since the start of the Pandemic.

We explored the ship, which is huge. The buffet area is VERY large. We didn’t learn the final exact numbers but we think the ship was at a little over half capacity. The buffet area is called the “Marketplace” and there are additional sections called the Bistro and the Bakery too.

We met our room steward and he showed us the ‘Muster” video – after we were supposed to go to our muster station to check n but we had gotten on-board so late that the checkpoint station was closed. They never came to us to check-in so I think watching the video was enough?

Soon after we got something to eat and drink – it was time to sail away. We went up on the pool deck for sail away and it felt good to start our vacation finally – the weather was cool and we were on our way!

NEXT – to our day at sea and then Ketchikan!
