Punta Arenas, Chile

Punta Arenas, Chile

Wednesday, March 9

We arrived later than expected in Punta Arenas, Chile due to not being able to leave Ushuaia on time, but it was not a problem for us because we did not have a tour. We enjoyed a leisurely breakfast and lunch on-board before we were able to finally arrive and explore Punta Arenas. We walked around the town in the port area, and in the city square area there were a lot of craft-booths set up where people were selling hand-made items for souvenirs. We found a spot in town where we got a strong enough wifi signal that we could upload some photos and Cheryl was able to make a call home to Bonnie.

We wandered into a shop that sold Chocolate and tried some chocolates. It was a little difficult because the man didn’t speak English, but we were able to try a few bites of Chocolate and continued exploring.

Cheryl enjoyed watching a street-maintenance man walking along his rounds, followed by two dogs. We speculated that he fed them tidbits he came across – they seemed fairly devoted to him.

After exploring – we headed back to the ship and prepared for departing to view Amalia Glacier the next day.
