More Sea Days

December 9th, 10th and 11th – two more days at sea and then a full day cruising the Amazon River

Here are the blog entries for the three relaxing days onboard the ship:

Day 9 – December 19 – At Sea

We slept-in today and then went to the Coffee Connection and then up for lunch. The Coffee Connection is a coffee-bar type area where they have breakfast and lunch and snack items throughout the day – we would often just go there in the mornings on-board instead of up to the formal buffet.

Then we decided to just relax this afternoon until around 3:00 and we are going to meet and play cards and stuff in the lounge. We played Trivia with our team which is always fun. The entertainment was a Tango show but we decided to skip it and just had a leisurely dinner.

Day 10 – December 20 – At Sea

Another relaxing day at sea – nothing of note really to mention – we had our usual relaxing morning at the Coffee Connection – and then played cards and Triomino tiles and trivia – then a relaxing dinner in the evening. Yummy sea bass! The entertainment was a vocalist – Colleen Williams – Susan skipped it and Adam, Cindy and Dave went. Tomorrow we are supposed to enter the Amazon River!

Day 11- December 21 – At Sea

Today we crossed the Equator and received certificates to commemorate the occasion. We were supposed to have a equator crossing ceremony on the pool deck but weather was not cooperating, so it was cancelled. Perhaps they will try again once we cross back over later in the trip? We enjoyed our leisurely day at sea with the usual activities of eating too much, playing trivia and cards and Triomino tiles and enjoyed the production show “Tuxedo” in the theatre before retiring for the night – tomorrow we have our first stop in the Amazon!

We didn’t take many photos during these sea-days but we did take some of the food and of some of the scenery.

Our daily ice-cream addiction was fed with new flavors daily in addition to the normal favorites
Goofing around with Snapchat filters – this one gave me the giggles
Google Maps was great for showing us our current location while we were sitting on our balcony.
Another relaxing afternoon – hanging out on our jumbo-balcony.
Our in-room map was another source of letting us know exactly what our location was.
The water was a bit more brown – muddy looking as we entered the Amazon River area
A closer look at the ‘muddy’ water
Google maps showing us having entered the river area
The weather was a bit stormy and it was fun to see the rain from our balcony
The river was much wider than we expected.
We started seeing some bugs that were hitching a ride
A closer look at one of our hitchhikers
Another example of how wide the river is
As we were approaching a river village
A closer look at the little village we passed
This boat didn’t seem to be doing very well
Using our ultra zoom on our camera we could see some of the jungle along the river
The Amazon jungle as viewed from our balcony. We honestly expected it to look like this the whole time we were in the river basin – but most of the time it looked like we were off shore in an ocean

Up next will be a visit to Santarem Amazon River (AM) – Brazil
